Presented by WVU’s School of Theatre & Dance, Anatomy of a Suicide runs in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre at the Canady Creative Arts Center through Oct. 1

Anatomy of a Suicide by Alice Birch explores the lives of three women within a family construct – grandmother, mother, and granddaughter. The play weaves a complex narrative around themes of depression, addiction, suicide, and the generational impact of trauma. Trapped in their specific cultural milieu of the 1970s, 2000s, and 2030s, the lives of these central characters play out simultaneously echoing their despair as parallel.

Anatomy of a Suicide is directed by Radhica Ganapathy, associate professor of theatre history and criticism. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays. Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit https://wvucca.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=1448

Inclusivity Statement:  Anatomy of a Suicide  by Alice Birch depicts three generations of women in a family, staging periods from the 1970s, 1990s, and 2030s. As their lives play out simultaneously onstage, the play looks closely at generational trauma and suicide. This storytelling is an exploration of their complex emotional, intellectual, and physical devastation.  Anatomy of a Suicide  allows diverse and inclusive casting.
