Why did you choose to attend WVU?
I chose to attend WVU because I knew I couldn't afford to go to school out of state. Because of the scholarships I received here, I haven't had to take out any loans or put a financial strain on my family in order to get my degrees.

What do you like about your major and your WVU experience?
The Acting Studio program allows students to gain experience in a variety of styles and techniques within a small class of their peers. In having my classes with the nine other students in my cohort, I have developed my ability to work closely with an array of personalities on scenes, exercises, and projects – a skill that will serve anyone hoping to build a career in a collaborative field like the theatre.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering attending WVU's College of Creative Arts?
Be prepared to be busy. Aside from Studio classes, which are 3-4 hours of work every weekday, rehearsals will take up much of your free time in the evenings when you are in a show. It's exhausting, but you'll gain valuable experience in working with anyone from first-year students to graduate students and visiting artists.

Have you recently received any awards or scholarships? Have you recently participated in any competitions, productions, performances or exhibitions?
In my senior year of high school, I became a recipient of the Foundation Scholarship, a full-ride scholarship given to five in-state students every year. This scholarship has by far been the best part of my WVU experience, as it allows my family to save the resources that would have been used to send me to college to support my younger siblings when they start higher education. In terms of theatrical achievement, in the fall of 2022 my roommate and I were able to produce an original play, Artemisia Gentileschi with the Head of the Beast, through the WVU Lab Theatre program. I also recently finished a run of William Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, which was an amazing experience.

Do you participate in any clubs or organizations?
I'm a member of the Honors LGBTQ+and Allies Affinity Group, which works to build connections and community between the queer students on campus.
