Class Rank: Junior

Major and Minor:

Art Therapy, Human Services and Psychology

Hometown: Chapmanville, WV

Why did you choose to attend WVU?
I am from West Virginia, therefore it was important for me to stay in in-state for tuition purposes. Once I determined I wanted to stay in instate, I choose WVU because of the size of the university and Morgantown itself.

What do you like about your major and your WVU experience?
I love that my major educates on the therapeutic aspects of art and how beneficial art making can be. Art therapy allows for psychology lectures and studio courses which I feel make it’s extremely interesting to learn in different environments. WVU has been great in allowing me to explore many varieties of studio courses that I had yet to study.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering attending WVU's College of Creative Arts?
Allow yourself to try new art making forms, because you have the faculty there to support you when needed. I have learned so much more about myself as an artist from taking studio courses outside of my comfort zone. There is a great sense of community amongst the WVU arts and I encourage everyone to engage with like minded individuals.
