Why did you choose to attend WVU?
I chose to attend WVU due to its proximity to my hometown, which is about 2 hours away. As well as WVU being one of only two universities in the country that offer a puppetry major. It was the best choice for me to receive a full and meaningful education in puppetry.

What do you like about your major and your WVU experience?
I like the vast amount of information that has gone into my major so far. I have done different labs, taken many different theatre based classes, and worked a lot on becoming a better performer with and without puppets. As for my general WVU experience, I enjoy how many different learning opportunities there are throughout the college, there are many different paths you can take even while maintaining your core classes. The additional photos I attached are both of puppets I made last semester in the puppet construction class. The mouse is a marionette style puppet before I added strings to it. And the dog is a Muppet style, hand-and-rod puppet.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering attending WVU's College of Creative Arts?
One piece of advice I would give to a prospective student would be to always stay organized. You will feel more relaxed if you keep your dorm/apartment/home is a clean space to study and work. You won’t lose track of what assignment is due when if you keep a calendar or something like that, which definitely leads to less stress.

Have you recently received any awards or scholarships? Have you recently participated in any competitions, productions, performances or exhibitions?
A gray mouse puppet in a dress created by Brianna I am currently on tour with the WVU Puppet Mobile, we have had two marionette performances so far and both of them have been so rewarding. We are traveling to different groups of kids through West Virginia, and the kids have loved the show so far. It was amazing to see our hard work pay off in a way that allowed the kids to experience something new. We built most of the set pieces for it as well as rehearsed quite a bit to make sure the show was just right.
