Why did you choose to attend WVU?

I chose WVU because of my voice teacher, Professor Robert Chafin. After having a trial lesson with him I knew that I would grow as a musician while learning from him. He is a wonderful teacher who always has engaging, creative, and interactive ways to learn. WVU also offered the best financial package for me. Financially, things have been difficult for my family because I have a single mom who works as a public school teacher. With both of those things said, it was an easy decision to attend WVU because of financial help and teacher-student connection.

What do you like about your major and your WVU experience?

One of my favorite things about WVU and my major is the size of the school. WVU is a big school, but I really love the smaller cluster of musicians at the College of Creative Arts. Having the Creative Arts Center as a smaller subsection within WVU helps me personalize my major; things feel more personal within my musical education but I still feel like I have room to grow.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering attending WVU's College of Creative Arts?

If I could give advice to students that are currently considering WVU College of Creative Arts, I would say do it. WVU has so many new, interesting, and intricate ideas to help better your skills as an artist. There is always a spot for a new person at the WVU College of Creative Arts, and the faculty and students help make it feel like home.
