What classes does CMP offer?

We offer private instruction on most all instruments, voice, theory, and composition. In addition, we have numerous regularly-recurring group classes (ukulele, harp, digital photography, keyboard for adults, group piano for children, vocal techniques, choral classes for young children, and early childhood music instruction). Finally, we are pleased to be able to offer to the Community several large ensembles: West Virginia Community Choir, Morgantown Community Orchestra, Morgantown Youth Choir, Harp Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble.

WVU Community ChoirWhat advice do you have for students wanting to take CMP classes?

My office is on the 4th floor of the Creative Arts Center, room 4097. My public hours are on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 9:30am-1pm and 2pm-4:30pm. Or I can offer meeting by appointment. My office phone number is 304-293-6946 and my email is karen.taddie@mail.wvu.edu. There are always registration forms outside my door. And they can be found on our webpages at music.wvu.edu/cmp. Please stop in or contact me to chat about how we can help satisfy your inner musical self.

What projects are you are currently working on?

We have just developed a successful Children’s Program — Minisingers and Youth Choral Classes — to bridge the gap between our Early Childhood Music Classes and our Children’s Beginning Group Piano Classes. These new singing classes, for ages 4-7, offer beginning score reading instruction and rhythm pattern recognition, as well as act as feeder classes to eventual potential participation in our prestigious Morgantown Youth Choir. Additional projects we are currently researching: we are exploring the idea of adding some music business related courses for our adult students. And we are considering branching out to possible video-training offerings to go along with our Digital Photography course.
