Student Spotlight: Madelyn Dundon

Madelyn Dundon Name: Madelyn Dundon

Class Rank: Junior

Major and Minor: Dance Major, Art History and Theatre Minor

Why did you chose to attend WVU?

I was awarded a full scholarship for the musical theatre program here. I accepted it and chose to come here because I was excited for the opportunity to explore all my passions in a large university setting rather than a conservatory environment, in which I would only have been able to pursue one thing; I was not willing to narrow down my university education to one area of study.

What do you like about your major and your WVU experience?

My favorite thing about my major, minors, and WVU experience has been my FACULTY. The caliber of the faculty here is incredibly motivating; what makes them unique is their simultaneous personability , accessibility, and professionalism. The dance faculty are dedicated to their craft, and their discipline in the pursuit of its education is evident in their teaching methods as well as in their work ethic as dancers themselves. Very frequently, Professor Kadaar and Professor Hambrick will drop in and take class from fellow instructors alongside us students.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering attending WVU's College of Creative Arts?

If you have a variety of talents or interests, you will be able to pursue all of them here at WVU's College of Creative Arts. Do not limit yourself to one thing, and do not be afraid of branching out and exploring all that this institution has to offer!
