WVU, FSU and more team up for Mozart’s Requiem July 1

Mozart's Requiem

Singers from around north central West Virginia will unite for a performance of Mozart’s Requiem at 5 p.m. July 1.

Singers from West Virginia University’s West Virginia Community Choir, Fairmont State University Community Chorus and invited singers from throughout the state will join together for the performance.

“The Mozart Requiem, famously left unfinished at the time of his death, is one of the great masterworks,” said Kym Scott, director of choral activities at WVU. “This is a wonderful opportunity for the West Virginia public to hear this wonderful work, and the acoustics of the church will help bring the music to life.”

The concert will take place at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Morgantown. Scott and FSU Choral Director Sam Spears will conduct the choir. John Morrison will perform on organ and soloists will include Julia Pinn, Sarah Nale, John Heiserman and Joseph Browning.  The concert is free and open to the public.
