Major:

Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance

Why did you choose to attend WVU?

I decided to attend WVU to study with Dr. Peter Amstutz. He helped me to develop my musicality in the highest way based on his experience not only as a pianist but also as a professor. Dr. Amstutz cares about each student truly as a musician. Also, gratefully the College of Creative Arts awarded me a 4-year full scholarship.

What is your profession now?

I am a second-year master's student at Mannes School of Music in New York City, studying under acclaimed pianist Jerome Rose.

What is your most interesting current/upcoming project?

Nowadays, I am looking for many performance opportunities as a pianist. Recently, I performed Chopin Mazurkas and some chamber pieces at Mannes Sounds Festival. Moreover, I performed Ravel Rapsodie Espagnole for Two Pianos at Klavierhaus in NYC which was also live-streamed through YouTube. Now I am working on other solo pieces for upcoming concerts.

How do you feel WVU and the College of Creative Arts prepared you for your career?

I had wonderful experiences at the WVU School of Music. I developed my musicality as a pianist to studying with Dr. Peter Amstutz, and I also gained wider view as a musician based on my experiences with the chamber music program with Dr. Lucy Mauro. Furthermore, I was a pianist for the West Virginia University Symphony Orchestra with Dr. Arnold for two years, and through that, I gained valuable experiences as a part of the orchestra. I always have pride that I studied with wonderful professors and musicians at WVU.
