Student Spotlight: Kristian Thacker

Name: Kristian Thacker

Class Rank: Graduate Student

Major and Minor: Intermedia and Photography

Why did you choose to attend WVU?
I wanted to examine and reevaluate my artistic practice, something that I could not do easily on my own.

What do you like about your major and your WVU experience?
I like being around a community of artists that are all working towards their own goals. I enjoy seeing the work that my peers in my cohort are creating and hearing what inspires them.

Have you recently received any awards or scholarships? Have you recently participated in any competitions, productions, performances or exhibitions?
While I am a graduate student, I am also a working photojournalist. In the past six months, I have had work published in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Washington Post, and others. Here are links to some of those pieces.
