Community Music Program starts back up

community music program logo with blue backgroundMove beyond just listening to music, because now you can participate in making music through the Community Music Program at West Virginia University. After a deserving and rejuvenating summertime, channel your inspiration and creativity in learning how to play an instrument and mastering this craft through music lessons, group classes, and ensembles.

The Community Music Program is open to everyone, including beginners, amateurs, and performers of all ages and levels, who wish to enhance their daily lives with arts, explore new creative territories, or perform with others who share the same passion.

For the program’s thirteen-week-term, members can register for private instruction, on a variety of instruments, sign up for new and returning group classes, or perform with the Morgantown Community Orchestra, which also counts towards community service. All classes are taught by West Virginia University School of Music and Community Music Program faculty members.

Classes begin August 29 and instruction will take place until December 18, 2022. Early Bird registration is open until September 11, and late bird period will close October 30, during which time a late fee of $15.00 will be applied on all incoming registrations.

The program continues to celebrate its 60th anniversary with special offers, as well as discounts for senior citizens, multiple family members and classes. College of Creative Arts, Community Music Program faculty & staff, and College of Creative Arts students receive 10% off their registration. Other offers and special flat fees may apply for WVU School of Music students. Music majors from neighboring colleges will also receive a 10% discount to be active performers of the Morgantown Community Orchestra.
