Student Spotlight: Verena Zaisberger

Verena Zaisberger with harpName: Verena Zaisberger

Class Rank:
Junior

Majors: BA Music, BA French

Why did you choose to attend WVU?
I heard that WVU has an excellent rifle program. If I had stayed in Europe I would have had to give up my sport to be able to be a student because there are no collegiate sport leagues. I visited and fell in love with the team and team culture. When I heard that there is also a harp studio at the school of music I thought it was a perfect fit.

What do you like about your major and your WVU experience?
I really like that there are a lot of opportunities to play in orchestra and large ensembles. I also think that the School of Music has very good music theory teachers. Another major think that I enjoyed so far is that the staff is very understanding and supportive. I never had any problems keeping up with my athletic responsibilities because professors (and the athletic staff) do their best to accommodate student athletes' needs. I always appreciated that very much.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering attending WVU's College of Creative Arts?
Have lessons with the professor who is teaching your instrument. It is very important to have a teacher that knows how to help you advance in your craft.
