Professor of Voice Hope Koehler stayed busy this summer, virtually.

Koehler taught in June at the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts. She taught voice to 15 students, ages 15 - 17. The students created three mini operas using famous opera tunes, but wrote the lyrics and plots themselves. To watch, visit https://bit.ly/3gd7pHf.

Koehler also participated in a virtual performance with the American Spiritual Ensemble at the National Association of Teachers of Singing National Conference. The performance can be viewed at https://youtu.be/xxMbseTy14s.

Next, Koehler took part in a virtual performance at Semana de Canto Coral Festival in Curitiba, Brazil. At the end of July, Koehler was a featured soloist in OperaLex’s virtual production, “Virtual Encore!” Poolesville Presbyterian Church in Maryland invited Koehler for an interview about spirituals and to participate in their summer series. To wrap up the summer, Koehler performed in a virtual recording of Handel’s Hallelujah from “Messiah” with the National Chorale in New York City.
