Lopez

Roger Lohmann, a docent at the Art Museum of West Virginia University, will present “A Closer Look At The Elements by Nicola López: Fire, Air, Water And Especially, Earth,” a program about the artist’s series on the four elements, currently on view in the Deem Gallery, as the museum’s popular “Lunchtime Looks” program continues on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Nicola López’s work examines the built environment and in this series, explores the relationship of earth, air, fire and water in an urban setting.

Lohmann is an emeritus professor of social work at WVU, author and museum volunteer. In the past, he has done research on art and social work and has a life-long avocational interest in Frank Lloyd Wright, modern architecture and urban design. A WVU Benedum Distinguished Scholar, he is the former director of the WVU Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action Institute.

WVU students, faculty and staff, and the general public are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to the Museum Education Center Grand Hall at noon and meet with other art enthusiasts to enjoy their midday meal. At 12:30 p.m., the group will move to the gallery for the 20-minute, in-depth look at this series of prints.

The session will end by 1 p.m., so that those who need to return to their offices will have time. Anyone who can’t come for the entire lunch hour is welcome to meet the group in the museum at 12:30 p.m. for the art presentation only.

The Art Museum and Museum Education Center are located near the corner of Patteson Drive and Morrill Way at the Evansdale Campus North Entrance.

Parking is available in short-term lots ST-1 and ST-9, with pay stations, one located near Patteson Drive and the other near the Evansdale Crossing building.
