Kent Anderson Butler to talk ‘A Time to Heal’ during lecture

The next Visiting Artist Lecture in the West Virginia University School of Art and Design will be given by Kent Anderson Butler on September 21.

Butler’s lecture will focus on messaging found in his exhibition “A Time to Heal,” which runs Sept. 7-29 in the School’s Laura Mesaros Gallery.

Butler is a Los Angeles-based artist working in a variety of mediums including video installation, performance and photography. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally including: Art Venice Biennale IV, The International Biennial of Contemporary Art, Venezuela, LACE, Coagula Curatorial, Museum of Art and History, Lancaster and the Pasadena Museum of California Art.

The lecture will begin at 5 p.m. in Bloch Learning and Performance Hall, 200A, of the Creative Arts Center with a reception to follow. The event is free and open to the public.

The Mesaros Galleries are located in the lobby of the WVU Creative Arts Center and are open noon – 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
