WVU and local high schools team up for concert April 23

WVU ChoirThe West Virginia University Choral ensembles and special guests will sing “A Jubilant Song” on Sunday, April 23.


The concert begins at 2 p.m. at WVU’s Creative Arts Center.

The program, led by Kym Scott, assistant professor and director of choral activities, will feature WVU’s Chamber Singers, Women’s Choir, Men’s Chorus and the West Virginia Community Choir. Joining WVU ensembles are Morgantown High School Choir and University High School Choir.

“We invite high school choral students to perform with us as an opportunity for them to see what the WVU Choral program offers,” Scott said. “It is important to build strong relationships with local choral programs to encourage high school students to continue singing in college, regardless of their major. There is a choir for everyone at WVU.”

On the program is music by Dello Joio, Johannes Brahms and Donald Patriquin, among others.

The concert is open to the public, tickets range from $7-12 dollars. WVU students receive free admission with student ID. General admission tickets can be purchased online or by calling 304-293-SHOW.
