WVU Percussion Ensembles to give free concert

Percussion EnsembleThe West Virginia University percussion program will perform a free concert at 6 p.m. Friday, April 7 at the Creative Arts Center.

The concert, held in the CAC’s Falbo Theatre, features a diverse program, including the premiere performance of WVU’s Swiss Fife and Drum ensemble. The group will play two traditional tunes that can be heard in the streets of Basel, Switzerland during the spring Fasnacht Festival.

Another highlight of the program is “Teen Town” by composer Jaco Pratorius. The group playing the piece is led by Brian Wolfe, the newest faculty member in the program. Music by Steve Reich and Maurice Ohana will also be performed. Senior percussion major David Sharp will be featured during Michael Burritt’s White Pines.
